What it’s like
to work with us.
Two of these letters were written years ago. We’ve kept them as they were sent, because what they describe is still how we work.
“It was a leap of faith on my part.”
Don was in the middle of a Small Business Server migration that had dragged on for weeks. His email had been broken the whole time. His previous IT guy had been with him eight years.
“My other IT guy was one of those possessive types who thinks he owned all the computer stuff I had been buying for years. There was even a time when I wasn’t allowed the administrator password to my brand new $8,000 server.”
He wasn’t in a hurry to trust anyone new.
“Green Link Tech was persistent though and didn’t give up on us so easily. They finally got me to agree on a lunch date after several weeks of misses, Philly cheesesteaks it was. I thanked them, left the lunch, and went back to my office. I still didn’t sign!”
What changed his mind was a test. One of his project managers had a laptop so slow it was unusable—a problem his existing IT guy had known about for two months.
“Mark returned promptly before the start of our regular work day on Monday with the laptop completely fixed. All my project manager could say was ‘those Green Link guys, they fixed it.’”
Within a week of signing, we’d fixed the daily performance issues, found the Exchange bug stopping email syncing to phones, and discovered his backups were misconfigured and running on incompatible hardware.
It kept happening. Another project manager, Larry, couldn’t connect to the VPN, his phone wouldn’t sync to Exchange, and specialised quoting software wouldn’t talk to his camera.
“Mark came in and in 15 minutes had all of these issues resolved. Some of these issues had been there for at least 6 months while my previous computer guy was here.”
“These were all things my previous computer guy should have caught. Needless to say we no longer work with that guy. It was a leap of faith on my part but boy am I glad I did it.”
He added his Houston office to the plan not long after, and Home Elevator is still a client today.
“Without burdening me in the technobabble.”
Dr. Phelps had been relying on friends and family for IT support. It worked until it didn’t.
“I was able to get my network up and running but I really didn’t have a good plan for the unexpected.”
Her practice ran specialized eye examination equipment that stored patient images on the network—machines that let her handle complicated contact lens prescriptions. Those files needed protecting, and the practice needed to be HIPAA compliant.
“Green Link Tech was there to not only help us but implement the plan without burdening me in the technobabble.”
On pricing, when she needed a security package:
“Mark informed me that I could get a 15-user two-year license for about $30 more than a 10-user one-year license. It’s reassuring to have someone looking out for me and my business.”
And on what a flat-fee plan actually means:
“On multiple occasions Mark has come by and fixed other issues that weren’t clearly covered under my plan and never charged us. It’s nice to know we have a support system that will not nickel and dime us out of every penny they can.”
Dr. Phelps was with us for eight years. The relationship ended when her franchise moved IT in-house—not a decision she made, and not one we could have prevented.
